Who better to endorse the wholesome Quaker Oats Puffed Wheat brand than All-American hero Babe Ruth? Spared from the trash bin, this stately “point of sale” cardboard advertisement was proudly displayed at one of several thousand locations in which the cereal was retailed. While the majority of such pieces were ultimately discarded, it is evident that this particular artifact was cherished by its original owner(s) as evidenced by numerous and scattered pin and punch holes. The perimeter shows evidence of trimming and the nearly 15x20 heirloom is absent of the original easel. With deference to a small hole beneath his left eye, the portrait of “The Bambino” is instantly recognizable. Additionally, the illustrations of promotional prizes are also attractive with only limited soiling tracing throughout. A fine specimen featuring a great American pitchman and his endorsed product.
