Description

Located at the corner of 25th and Barclay in downtown Baltimore, Oriole Park III was the host to the glory days of the early National League Orioles franchise. Before a heated pennant race in late 1897, a throng of dedicated Charm City faithful crammed the edifice on September 25th and witnessed the homestanding Birds best the visiting Beaneaters by a 6-3 margin. As evident by the offered 8x10 black-and-white cabinet, there was not a seat to be had at the venue. Published in 1897 by E.D. Macfee, “The Winning Game of 1897 Boston vs. Baltimore” cabinet exhibits breathtaking scenery and stirring nineteenth century game action. Presents in (EX) condition with limited surface and perimeter imperfections. The reverse is pencil inscribed “Hoffer 30 cents”. The 9/25/1897 contest witnessed Bill Hoffer outduel Fred Klobendanz and this artifact originates from Hoffer’s estate.
