Detailed description on website.
Longevity personified, former southpaw Jim Kaat won 283 games and 16 Gold Glove Awards during a 25-year career that spanned four decades and seven U.S. Presidential administrations! During his 18th season, Kaat wore and signed this Philadelphia Phillies home jersey as he won 12 games to help power the club to their first postseason berth since 1950. The white knit zippered garment features a red pinstripe pattern and red trim lining the shoulders and sides. A script-style “P” logo is sewn to the left breast in red twill, while “39” is sewn to the back and right front and “KAAT” is arched on a nameplate atop the back number in like fashion. A bicentennial patch is sewn to the left sleeve, while the right sleeve is home to a National League centennial logo patch. Of note is that the nameplate and both patches are replacements. Just below the “P” logo, Kaat has signed in blue marker. The signature shows (“8”) strength, but has been enhanced in an unknown hand. Within the cotton-lined collar, a swatch has “Kaat” chain stitched in cursive. The tapered left front tail is home to a “Wilson” size “48” label and a swatch with chain stitched identifiers reading: “48 76 Set 2.” The gamer shows phenomenal wear with minor color fading throughout and perspiration-induced discoloration about the collar’s interior.
