Nearly fifty years ago, a miracle occurred in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, NY. An expansion team won the World Series for the first time, when the "Amazin' Mets" defeated a super-talented Baltimore Orioles team in 1969. That squad is the subject of this clean commemorative bat. The World Series Black Bat is awarded annually to World Series participants (or in this case, winner). Examples such as this Hillerich & Bradsby (32.8oz/35") display bat feature a black "Smith" finish and gold-colored facsimile signatures. This particular prize presents nicely (with minimal wear near the barrel end) and includes (34) both block-letter names and facsimile signatures (with the latter for those under contract with the bat company). Highlights include: Berra (coach), Hodges (manager), McGraw, Ryan and Seaver.
