It was Ruth's superagent Christy Walsh who ran the World's Fair Academy of Sport, and there was of course no bigger draw than the Bambino himself. Walsh details his aim on the reverse: “The American Academy of Sport—an association of leaders in all fields of sport—is the priceless contribution of the New York World’s Fair to youth in the World of Tomorrow. Through the voluntary and personal assistance of renowned athletes, coaches and managers the Fair offers an expert schooling in many sports, and an inspiration to excel in all fields of endeavor. A card, similar to this one, is issued to every boy who registers and attends one or more class in sport.” Condition of the 4-1/4 x 2-3/4" Laurel Card is PR/FR with scattered surface paper loss throughout, including to a portion of "Ruth." The signature otherwise rates about "7-8." Full LOA from JSA.
