A key component on a United States roster that included fellow future big leaguers Rich Wortham and Dan Goodwin, Wayne Krenchicki was awarded this silver medal for his participation in the 1975 Pan American Games in Mexico City, Mexico. The 2-3/8”-diameter prize features relief likenesses of North and South America, as well as the “Angel of Independence” monument and an event torch. The reverse is home to a raised letter legend reading: “VII Juegos Deportivos Panamericanos – MEXICO 1975.” The piece remains fastened (via nut and post) to a black suede lanyard with event logos and a USA lapel pin. The weighty silver piece shows age-induced oxidation but still holds incredible historic and aesthetic appeal and can easily be polished.
