Description

Affectionately dubbed “Squeaky,” former outfielder Fred Valentine was a blur on the base paths during his career with the Washington Senators and Baltimore Orioles. These items were worn and used by Valentine during the latter portion of his playing days. Includes: Game-Worn Washington Senators Cap: a “Wilson” size “7-1/4” accessory (LOA from Phil Wood); Game-Used Bat: a 1965-1968 Hillerich & Bradsby “R43” (37.4-oz/36”) signature model. More on our website.

Fred Valentine 1968 Game Worm Washington Senators Cap: a red wool accessory with a curly “W” embroidered to the front center in white-on-blue and a red button atop the six-point crown suspension. The interior sweatband is home to a “Wilson” label, a size “7-1/4” tag and an “AYC stamping that dates to February, 1968. Valentine’s number “34” is inscribed on the bill’s underside. The cap represents the style’s first season and shows sold game wear with dirt stains and minimal color fading. Accompanying is an LOA from Washington, D.C. baseball historian and memorabilia consultant Phil Wood.

Fred Valentine 1965-1968 Signed Game-Used Bat: a Hillerich & Bradsby “R43” (37.4-oz/36”) signature model signed between the center brand and barrel stampings in black marker (“8” strength). The war club exhibits evidence of heavy use with ball, bat-rack and stitch marks throughout, as well as a handle crack whose length is obscured by a 6-1/2” layer of vintage athletic tape. Valentine’s number “34’ is inscribed on the partially chipped knob in black marker.
