Seeking to overcome the ravaging player losses of WWII the 1945-46 American Soccer League Champions hosted a then rare U.S./International soccer match. Presented are a program and ticket from a 5/5/46 match featuring the Baltimore Americans vs. the Liverpool Reds. These early U.S. soccer souvenirs are potentially the best from this event you will encounter as there are no others offered. The program (VG) displays solidly with a light stain around a 1/2" section of spine loss, the ticket is (FR) with tape repair. More on our website.
The four page program lists the rosters for the participating teams on bright interior pages. The cream-toned covers are printed with pomp and circumstance including the interesting subtitle “The first international game in 15 years”. Though reinforced with heavily yellowed clear tape at center the ticket’s dynamic player emblem at center remains visible and all printed graphics are clearly legible. This match was part of a ten date American tour for the Liverpool team. Unfortunately the Baltimore squad proved no match for the mighty Reds as they fell by a score of 9-0.
