Description

Content in the sizable shadow of his boisterous teammate, Lou Gehrig finished second in home runs for four successive seasons (1927-1930), surpassed each year only by Babe Ruth, as “Murderers Row” made quick work of American League opponents. It seemed that in every scenario, Gehrig took second billing in his humble manner, while Ruth garnered headlines and endorsement contracts. Even in autograph sessions, the “sweet spot” was invariably reserved for Ruth, while Gehrig’s own penning was noticeably smaller and presented on a crowded panel. Well, Gehrig is front and center on this single-signed album page! The vintage sheet measures approximately 6 x 4-3/8” and is the canvas for perhaps the boldest Gehrig scripting you’ll ever see! Executed in black-ink steel tip fountain pen, Gehrig’s flowing signature projects (“10”) potency and is unaccompanied by any other pennings. This Bronx treasure comes with a full photo LOA from JSA.
