The face of the Tampa Bay Rays for 10 productive seasons, perennial All-Star Evan Longoria debuted the year the franchise dropped its demon-themed moniker in favor of the simpler “Rays.” This bat was brandished and autographed by Longoria during his penultimate campaign with the club: a season in which he launched a career-best 36 round-trippers. Graded GU 9.5 by PSA/DNA, the uncracked Louisville Slugger (33-1/2”, 30.6-oz) “I13” signature model maple weapon shows signs of outstanding game use with repeated ball and surface marks about the barrel, as well as grain swelling on the hitting surface and pine-tar residue along the handle. Affixed to the knob, a Schutte sticker has a team logo and Longoria’s number “3.” Between the center brand and barrel stampings, Longoria has signed in blue marker (“8-9” strength) and inscribed “Game Used 2016.” Of note are the transposed stampings of OML baseballs. Some of them are pink, indicating that the bat was used during the Rays’ May 6-8 (Mother’s Day weekend) sweep of the Angels in Anaheim. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from John Taube, PSA/DNA, as well as an MLB Authentication hologram (both for game use). AN auction LOA from JSA attests to the autograph’s authenticity.
