Description

In defense of their NFL Championship, the 1938 Washington Redskins lost a pair of games to the New York Giants and endured two tie games against the lowly Brooklyn Dodgers, and thus failed to make the postseason for the first time since moving to the Nation’s Capital. This near-complete run of (8/11) gameday programs were issued during that season. Includes:

September 11 vs. Philadelphia Eagles: issued at Philadelphia’s Municipal Stadium for the season opener, the 20-page guide presents (EX) with covers/pages intact and just a hint of a vertical fold.

September 25 vs. Cleveland Rams: issued at Griffith Stadium, the 20-page publication presents (VG) with covers/pages complete; there is a vertical compacting fold and minor separation along the spine.

October 9 vs. New York Giants: issued at Griffith Stadium, the 20-page program presents (EX) with covers/pages intact and just a hint of a vertical fold.

October 16 vs. Detroit Lions: issued at Briggs Stadium, the 32-page guide presents (EX) with covers/pages completely intact and a swatch from “Alpacuna Overcoat” full-page ad intact on inside front cover.

October 23 vs. Philadelphia Eagles: issued at Griffith Stadium, the 20-page publication presents (EX) with covers/pages intact.

October 30 vs. Brooklyn Dodgers: issued at Ebbets Field, the eight-page program features Ace Parker on the front cover and presents (VG-EX) with covers/pages intact and a vertical compacting fold.

November 27 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates: issued at Griffith Stadium, the 20-page guide presents (EX) with covers/pages intact.

December 4 vs. New York Giants: issued at the Polo Grounds, the eight-page publication presents (VG) with covers/pages complete; there is minor separation along the spine and a vertical compacting fold.

Missing are programs from: September 18 (vs. Brooklyn Dodgers at Griffith Stadium); November 6 (vs. Pittsburgh Pirates at Forbes Field); and November 13 (vs. Chicago Bears at Wrigley Field).
