Preceding Canton’s Pro Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame promoted and developed football on all levels, stressing leadership and academic achievement. As the prestigious institution awarded its annual Gold Medal at the 1961 awards dinner, recipient and United States President John F. Kennedy was on hand to graciously accept the bestowal and sign this event program. Issued in the Grand Ballroom of New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on December 5, 1961, the 28-page program features thick-stock pages listing past honorees, as well as a fold-out honoring Kennedy with a full-page black-and-white photo. On the thick stock front cover, Kennedy has signed in steel tip fountain pen (“8-9” strength). Just below, College Football Hall of Famer Marshall Goldberg has signed in blue ballpoint (“9” strength). With all components complete and present, the keepsake presents splendidly. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
