Description

Traded by the Cleveland Indians in 1916 along with "Sad Sam" Jones to the Boston Red Sox for Tris Speaker, Fred Thomas was a World Series winner as a rookie in 1918. His three-year MLB career ended a full Century ago, when he hung it up after a brief stint with the Washington Senators in 1920. Though his time in the Majors was relatively short, Thomas does hold the distinction of being the last living member of the 1918 Red Sox team. His departure came in 1986 at the ripe old age of 93, and he left little in the way of signed items behind, with single-signed baseballs considered especially tough. Autograph enthusiasts make a sweet score with this OAL/Brown baseball (NM), single-signed by Thomas. Located on the desired sweet spot, this rare autograph rates as a pleasing ("7") strength example and comes with a full photo LOA from PSA/DNA.
