Description

Follow a road less traveled for this uncommon Fred Fitzsimmons single-signed baseball. Master of the knuckle-curve pitch, Fitzsimmons racked up 217 wins and a very impressive .598 win percentage, during a 19-year playing career with the Giants and Dodgers from 1925-1943. Having passed away in 1979 after bowing out of baseball in 1966, balls signed by Fitzsimmons are naturally hard to come by. Here we have a desirable Fitzsimmons autograph on an undetermined ball type, that appears to be pre-war in origin. The most prominent aspect of the faded factory labeling stamps, is a partially visible diamond on one of the side panels. Located on the side panel opposite of the one with the diamond, Fitzsimmons autograph remains a pleasing ("7-8") strength example and other than the faded labeling, this ancient orb presents handsomely with a fairly clean and glossy, off-white surface. PSA/DNA basic cert/sticker.
