A perfect companion piece to the Torre helmet offered adjacently, this Wilson size 7-1/4 cap likewise originates from the 9-time All Star's playing prime. It features a manufacturing date code of February 1966, and it's accompanied by a comprehensive LOA from authenticator Phil Wood, who states the following:
"The green under visor has number '15' inked in the center closest to the sweatband, indicating player Joe Torre. No other player wore that number for Atlanta between 1966-68. It was unissued in 1969, and catcher Hal King wore it in 1970, though the Braves had gone to an all-navy cap by then. Cap shows regular wear. There are 2 tiny moth holes at the right edge of the visor, another one in the second panel on the left side of the cap, and part of the fabric covering the top button has been eaten away. They in no way detract from the displayability of this item...I have no doubt as to the authenticity of this cap. The two-tone version of the cap was worn through the 1968 season, the year they introduced an all-navy cap on the road. By 1969 the navy cap was used both home and road."
