"Why Not?" was the Baltimore Orioles slogan during the 1989 season. Having posted a dreadful record of 54-107 in 1988 to finish dead last by a wide margin, the O's made an amazing turnaround in 1989, going 87-75. This put them in position to win their division and go to the playoffs by beating the Toronto Blue Jays in the final series of the season. Sadly for "Charm City" fans, the Blue Jays answered that "Why Not?" slogan with swift action, to end up two games ahead of Baltimore. Which brings us to this "close but no cigar" lot of (36) 1989 Baltimore Orioles phantom World Series press pins. These O's phantom pins command as good or better a price than many contemporary examples of teams that did actually make it to the World Series and this bunch is sure to please. All (36) pins are housed in individual plastic cases and all present in pristine state, with an overall condition average of (NM-MT to MT).
