A bat is the perfect collectible to represent Moises Alou's legacy. Why? Because he was famous for being one of the game's rare barehanded batters, with no need for batting gloves and, what's more, with a covert hand-urination regimen. Alou was playing for the Marlins when he earned his second All-Star Game selection. This 34", 32.7-oz. bat comes from that contest and was used later on, as John Taube/PSA explains: "The absence of an order number and year code and the appearance of Alou's initials indicate this bat was produced for the 1997 All-Star Game. Visible use does not suggest the bat was used during the Mid-Summer Classic. Balls used during the game were imprinted with red ink. The barrel of the bat shows great use, but all the ink transfers are from regular season National League baseball which were imprinted with black ink." There is barrel checking/grain swelling, Alou's number "18" on both ends, and his signature to boot. Graded GU 9.5. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
