One of baseball's more colorful teams is examined in game by game detail with this 1950 Philadelphia Phillies batting stats ledger. This season saw the Phillies go all the way to the World Series, thanks to the exuberance of their youth movement squad, dubbed the "Whiz Kids". Obviously kept by one of the team's coaches, this record book is filled with handwritten entries of batting results, that are dated in order with opponent abbreviations for the 1950 season. All sixteen of the Phillies position players who had ten or more at bats are listed, with Ashburn, Hamner, Waitkus, Ennis, Jones, Sisler, Goliat, Lopata, Seminick, Silvestri, Whitman, Hollmig, Caballero, Bloodworth, Nicholson and Mayo. Also listed are core pitchers Roberts, Simmons, Miller, Heintzelman, Konstanty, Johnson, Church and Meyer. Bound along the spine with cloth, this hardcover book remains complete and intact, with moderate signs of age-appropriate wear and the entries are neatly recorded throughout.
