In the 19th century, woodworkers may have used actual reclaimed wagon parts to fashion their baseball bats. But by the time that Spalding was mass-producing their "wagon tongue" line, it was mostly just a hearkening back to the halcyon days of yore. This 34" example was marketed for a then princely sum of 50 cents and advertised as having "League quality, special finish, spotted burning." It features deep, dark engraving of the iconic Spalding logo and the stylized lettering, "WAGON TONGUE," as well as a beautiful, rich surface luster with attractive wood-grain patterns. The barrel brand itself is EX-MT, and the bat overall is VG-EX but presents nicer.
