Incredible Eye Appeal! Graded Good 2 by PSA. A true American classic is available with the offered 1952 Topps Baseball #311 Mickey Mantle rookie card! Of the countless trading cards that Topps has produced over the decades, this "giant size" high number is far and away the most important example of the post-war hobby. By the time Topps had released the #311-407 high series in late 1952, "Joe DiMaggio's successor" had already established himself as one of the most dominating forces in the game. As the boyhood hero to millions of American youth, such early Mantle material was highly prized (and ultimately handled). Fortunately, the offered specimen is absent of extreme wear. The phenom's batting pose is perfectly contrasted with glistening surface colors and displays an ample portion of its original gloss. Despite moderately askew left-to-right centering, the cardboard construction is not compromised. The perimeter displays limited, but not excessive corner touches and the edges are bright white. A microscopic fleck of paper loss to the right of Mantle's cap, a bend (not crease) near the bottom left corner and additional surface impressions do not distract from this legend's overall presentation. While the "laces face left" reverse displays very minor scuffing and a small spot of paper loss near the lower boundary, the text is still bold and strong.
