Interestingly, when pioneering broadcaster Bob Elson departed the White Sox in 1970 after a 25-year tenure to replace Harry Caray in Oakland, Caray went ahead and replaced Elson in the South Side of Chicago! Elson received the Hall of Fame's Ford Frick Award in 1979 and died in 1981. Caray did likewise in 1989 and 1998. Their index cards are NM with "9"-strength signatures. Auction LOA from JSA.
